Simply including hand-made hip-hop drum beats (and some hi-tech synth, as well) along with entirely unadulterated post-bop piano and bass, they leave no speculation as to the seriousness of their intent - which seems to be to enjoy the best of both worlds by not screwing either style up to suit the other.
